The Center for
Business and Economic Development
The Center for Business Education & Development (CBED) is a Pennsylvania not-for-profit,
volunteer organization committed to assisting new & aspiring entrepreneurs,
high-school & university students, and certain established enterprises develop
and implement the skills and business practices needed to successfully navigate
today's corporate environment.
Founded in 2008, CBED was created by the management and staff of David A.
Lopez and Company, LLC as a way to combat the increasing failure rates of
new businesses in the City of Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. The
Delaware Valley is consistently one of the regions within the United States
with the highest rates of business creation and business failures. These failures
are caused by many reasons, but during the last few years, the firm saw young
businesses and new entrepreneurs falter due to a lack of professional guidance.
In response, the firm, with the support and input of other local professionals
formed CBED to provide business owners access to local experts that, under
normal circumstances, may have been out of reach.
Our professional volunteers are licensed accountants, attorneys, bankers,
insurance and risk management advisors, investment and wealth-management counselors,
management consultants, and valuation specialists that have committed their
time and expertise to strengthen the local business community and to serve
as a support system for those business owners on the threshold of greatness.
With the wide array of expertise and knowledge that we have at our fingertips,
CBED will create an atmosphere that will promote economic vitality and strength
by providing professional guidance, instructional workshops, educational materials,
and timely, relevant information to businesses throughout the Delaware Valley.
